About This Work
This acrylic mixed‑media work emerges from a process closer to excavation than painting. Built through layers of acrylic, fragments of printed matter, graphic symbols, and improvised marks, the piece behaves like an artifact assembled from multiple timelines. The artist begins not with a fixed image but with a field of interruptions — torn paper, accidental textures, alphabetic sequences, and photographic remnants — allowing the composition to grow through collisions rather than plans.
As the surface accumulates, language becomes both material and misdirection. Words such as DADA INTERNATIONAL, READYMADE, and THE UNPUBLISHED PHOTOGRAPH appear not as statements but as ruptures, traces of a parallel archive that never fully reveals itself. The alphabet stretches across the work like a structural spine, suggesting a system that is simultaneously constructed and dismantled. Circles, grids, and cross‑marks operate as navigational tools, guiding the eye through a landscape where order is always on the verge of unraveling.
The painting’s final form is the result of repeated acts of covering, scraping, re‑painting, and re‑assembling — a choreography of decisions and erasures. What remains is a visual palimpsest: an abstract field charged with the energy of its own making, where every layer hints at a previous gesture and every fragment invites reinterpretation. The work stands as a contemporary echo of Dada’s irreverent spirit, transforming everyday symbols into a speculative document of imagination, memory, and controlled chaos.
